DNV (Det Norske Veritas) is an independent foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment. Its history goes back to 1864, when the foundation was established in Norway to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of Norwegian merchant vessels.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the Section for Failure Investigation and Corrosion Management, which is specialized in corrosion assessment, monitoring, mitigation and modeling services.

ECOGEOSAFE is a private consulting company, laboratory for analysis and research in environmental engineering that offers a dynamic vision of prevention of industrial, urban and natural risks.

ECOGEOSAFE will bring to the network its own experience of metallic corrosion and will also host recruited researchers in its experimental laboratory. It is a support for industrial partners in behavior evaluation of materials reactivity in natural environment and also for the facilities risk assessment. ECOGEOSAFE has a long experience in geological corrosion process for nuclear industry and deep underground waste disposals, and develops industrial research for oil and gas companies.

The Lab. Interfaces et Systèmes Electrochimiques (LISE - UPR 15) is the Electro-Chemical Systems Laboratory of the UPMC University and is associated to the French National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS).

The studies at LISE are performed in the context of physico-chemistry and interfacial reactivity. Various domains are concerned: corrosion and its inhibition, surface treatments, storage and conversion of energy, and, more recently, applications in biology, cultural patrimony protection, and, more generally, natural environments to understand the behaviour of electrochemical interfaces.

The Laboratoire de Génie Chimique (LGC - UMR 5503) is a chemical engineering laboratory, created in 1965 and associated to the French National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS).

As coordinator of the BIOCOR ITN project, the LGC is responsible for the day-to-day running of the network, on both the scientific and the management levels.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the BIOSYM department of the LGC, which is specialised in bioprocesses and microbial systems. The team working on BIOCOR focuses on bio-electrochemistry,
biofilms engineering, sensors and reactors, fuel cells, and local analysis.

The laboratoire Physico-Chimie des Surface (LPCS - UMR 7045) is the Physical-chemical study of Surfaces laboratory associated to the French National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS).

The research carried out in the LPCS bears on the relationship between the structure and the chemical composition of metal and alloy surfaces.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the group Physical-Chemical study of surfaces in which the research fields are:  Fundamental studies of the atomic structure of metallic or oxidised single crystal surfaces and the molecular or dissociative adsorption on these well-defined surfaces are improved by more typical studies, especially in the field of corrosion and protection of metallic materials.

M-I SWACO Production Technologies is a vendor of biocides to the oil & gas industry, and is hence involved in projects regarding mitigation of microbial influenced corrosion.

M-I SWACO supports the BIOCOR project with case histories & problem descriptions, and brings valuable knowledge & experience regarding environmental occupational health issues to the network.

NanoChem Ltd supports the BIOCOR project through its experience on coatings using nanotechnology and in corrosion inhibitors.

The Institute of Materials & Environmental Chemistry, within the Research Centre for Natural Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, is dedicated to continuing research at an internationally competitive level in the field of nanochemistry. The research is focused on the nanodimensional particles and structures, surfaces, interfaces and heterogeneous catalysis.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the Department of Interfaces and Surface Modification, focusing on: Inhibition of corrosion and scale formation, correlation between the chemical structure and efficiency of inhibitors/biocides study of interphase phenomena, microbially induced corrosion,interaction between biocides and microbial cell surfaces studied by atomic force microscopy and quartz crystal nanobalance, self assembled and Langmuir-Blodgett layers in inhibition of corrosion and microbial adhesion.

Statoil is a leading energy company in oil & gas production.

The BIOCOR project is supported by Statoil's Research Centre in Porsgrunn, which has facilities for research activities within separation and process technology, modelling and production optimisation, multiphase technology,  gas technology, environmental technology and new energy solutions.

Via the Research Centre, Statoil provides BIOCOR with field samples of biocorossion in the oil & gas industry, and allows the BIOCOR researchers to visit production facilities.

The Biofilm centre at the University of Duisburg-Essen was founded in 2001, and dedicates its research to the interactions between microorganisms and interfaces.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the Aquatic Biotechnology section, which deals with microbial surface processes such as the bioleaching of metal sulfides and the microbial influenced corrosion (MIC) of concrete and steel.

The University of Oklahoma Biocorrosion Center is a leading U.S. institute in the field of biocorrosion research.  It tends to focus on elucidating the relationship between metal biocorrosion and hydrocarbon biodeterioration.  Researchers at the Center maintain a comprehensive, integrated approach to biocorrosion research utilizing state of the art microbiology, molecular ecology, microscopy and analytical chemistry techniques to diagnose and respond to the microbial metabolic activities that are at the heart of metal biocorrosion problems.

To explore the fundamental scientific issues that lead to new knowledge, understanding and technology for the diagnosis and mitigation of biocorrosion problems in the oil and gas industry

The School of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences of the University of Portsmouth is part of the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Science (IBBS). The Institute serves as a focus for multidisciplinary research in the biomedical sciences, including both fundamental studies and applied research in the molecular biosciences.

The BIOCOR project is carried out within the Microbiology Research Laboratory, which is specialised in: fundamental and applied aspects of bacterial biofilms in natural environments, including medical biofilms; the role of bacteria in colitis, survival of pathogens in marine environments, biofouling, biocorrosion, biodeterioration and biodegradation including marine conservation; biochemical imaging using advanced mass spectrometry techniques; study of ionization processes in mass spectrometry to understand structure of bacterial extracellular polymers (complex organic mixtures).
